Meet the Pastor

My name is Pastor Matt Read, and my family and I moved to Dike in August of 2019. Before coming here, I served as pastor of Calvary Baptist Church in Onslow, Iowa, for eight years, and prior to that as youth pastor at Heartland Baptist Church in Ames for five years. I earned a Bachelor’s degree in Pastoral Studies from Faith Baptist Bible College and a Master of Arts from Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary. In 2025, I completed my certification with the Association of Certified Biblical Counselors (ACBC). I’ve also enjoyed serving our community as a volunteer firefighter for five years.

When I’m not engaged in ministry, you’ll often find me woodworking, playing guitar, or enjoying a fine cup of coffee.

Alex the Youth Pastor

Alex Gerig joined our staff in the summer of 2025 as Youth Pastor. He is a 2025 graduate of Faith Baptist Bible College in Ankeny, Iowa, and previously served as a counselor at Camp of the Wilds of New England. Originally from Columbus, Ohio, Alex has a heart for ministry, a passion for serving the Lord, and a desire to make disciples. He is excited to invest in the next generation and point students to Christ.
